You should go to NPR and fill out the survey. So far, these are the results:
Excerpts from NPR New Goal: Fun, Not Marriage "Going out on a date is a sort of ironic, obsolete type of thing," says 25-year-old Elizabeth Welsh, who graduated from college in 2005 and now lives in Boston. She says that among her friends, dating is a joke. "Going out on a date to dinner and a movie? It's so cliche — isn't that funny?" ...Marriage is often the last thing on the minds of young people leaving college today. "My first few years out of college was about trying to get on my feet and having a good time," Welsh says. Dating and a relationship interfered with that. ... A number of experts accept this relaxed attitude toward sex outside of relationships as a natural consequence of the sexual revolution, women's growing independence and the availability of modern contraceptives. But Deborah Roffman, who conducts human sexuality workshops for middle- and high-school-age students and their parents, sees that as a distorted view of liberation. "It's not a new model. I think most people would probably look back and agree that this has been a more traditionally, or at least stereotypically, male model," says Roffman. "What I've seen over the last few years is girls adopting a more compartmentalized view, and feeling good and empowered by it." |

As usual, we commemorate the anniversary of the landing of those courageous men and women who gave the last measure of sacrifice to liberate Europe from the Nazis.
After walking the beaches of Normandy and seeing over ten thousand graves, I can say I was changed and will never forget the sacrifice they gave. http://www.ddaymuseum.org/ http://www.normandy1944.info/ |

Forbes writes that Dallas, texas is number 3 in the United States for singles. Coolness, cost of living, culture, job growth and a few of the categories used to rate the cities across the county. What is troubling of course is the methodology. "Our methodology focuses on career-minded, "never-marrieds" under the age of 35. Older singles, divorcees, widows and widowers might find slightly different criteria more relevant to them." Really? Never married? That is such an skewed view of the world. Here I thought the Church was the organization lagging behind society. Obviously, Forbes is like the church as well. Forbes is still living in the 70's. One commenter to the store wrote, "Their single numbers are skewed. The majority of Hotlanta's single population are those seeking same-sex partners. Many of those are legally single but not single. And for the ones who are actually single, they are not necessarily interested in the opposite sex. So much so that my female friends who live there, say it's one of the worst places to be single if you are heterosexual." Read the article and decide for yourself but, really, Atlanta? |

D magazine has a great article where to eat for less: Global economic crisis got you freaked? Have you unwound all your deals and cashed out of the hedge fund yet? Yeah, us neither. We’re doing just fine, thank you. But still. In deference to those who really are hurting, it seems bad form to order the dry-aged Kobe tenderloin topped with foamed foie gras. Now’s not the time for ostentation. So here are a few frugal suggestions for dining out. You know, for appearances’ sake. Everyone thinks tiny Seabose in Carrollton is his own undiscovered secret. If so, that’s not true anymore. Spicy tuna rolls are $4.50 ($7.50 at Nobu), and tuna nigiri is a bargain at $2. Vegetarians can order avocado cucumber rolls for $2.99 and tamago (omelet) nigiri for $1.50.
