Cutie plans to marry
Episcopal/Anglican stuff
Written by Wade Wiles
After Thursday's ceremony, Canellis stood beside Cutié as he read a statement outlining his desire to continue serving God while enjoying the freedom to raise a family. Cutié took no questions, but referred to Canellis, a former parishioner whom he met in church, as his fiancée.

Priest who broke celibacy vow joins Episcopal Church
Episcopal/Anglican stuff

Bloody fantastic. A priest who can't keep it in his pants welcomed to the Episcopal Church.

I'm not talking about married priests here - he's single.  Singles in the Church have constantly had to fight the stigma of being single and disprove at every turn that we aren't just a bunch of randy, looking-for-love-in-all-the-wrong-places, misfits.

If the priest (Father Alberto Cutie ), didn't agree with the concept of celibacy, that's fine.  Quit the RC church and join us and get married - like many others.

"This is something I've struggled with," he said this month. "I don't support the breaking of the celibacy promise."

What he doesn't emphasize is that his relationship with this person has lasted two years. REALLY 2 years?  I don't know about you, but the women I have known who have "dated" men for two years have pretty much gotten fed up with the whole "milk for free" issue.  They usually dump the guys citing "inability to commit" and "just toying with me".

Of his relationship with the woman, he said, "Through the photos, it looked like a frivolous thing on the beach, you know, and that's not what it is. It's something deeper than that." -CNN.com

Wow, that's original.

I wonder how he is going to counsel couples wanting to get married.  Are they living together/having sexual relationship? What will he say? The fact of his celebrity only amplifies his behavior.  "Father Oprah" , would take a good lesson from Bishop Urwin in England.  I wonder if he is going to head up the diocesan Singles Commission?

If you want to read more about the Celibacy issue, search for "celibate" on EpiscopalSingles.org. There is plenty to read.

...BUT CAN SEX TALK BE THE BRIDE OF CHASTITY? - Alex Williams

I have not read her book, so I can not vouch for it. After reading the article about her views on sex, it sounds like she is right on target with our Sex and the City relationship discussions. Instead of ignoring sexuality issues as adults we are talking about relationships and sexuality in an intimate forum. Christianity and sexuality are not two disparate things. Sex is a gift from God as with any gift we shouldnt abuse it but treat it like a treasure.

...BUT CAN SEX TALK BE THE BRIDE OF CHASTITY?

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - LAUREN F. WINNER comes off not unlike a lot of liberal arts graduate students strolling the campuses of the countrys elite universities. She wears retro cats-eye glasses, has four tattoos, weaves references to the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu into casual
conversation and sips Côtes du Rhône over lunch.

The face of the new cultural elite? Not exactly. The face of the new chastity movement? If she has her way, yes.

With her new book, "Real Sex: The Naked Truth About Chastity" (Brazos Press), Ms. Winner, a 28-year-old evangelical Christian, intends to promote
chastity among Christians while challenging the prevailing just-say-no approach with an unflinching, soul-searching, distinctly up-to-date alternative that urges people toward a frank assessment and acceptance of their sexuality.

Just for the fun of it, the Church of the Holy Cross (Episcopal) will be presenting Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera, “Trial By Jury” in early October 2009. All interested persons are welcome to participate. The show requires three choruses!

We need Bridesmaids, Jurymen, Strangers (the public that comes to watch the trial), and people willing to sew costumes.
